I worked 240 hours during my CHART internship, below is a brief review of my daily activities.

1/21/2011 6 Was introduced to the staff and toured the library and archive as well as the digital lab. Started training on digitization and the systems.
1/28/2011 6.5 Began scanning the lantern slides, started with the images of the Brooklyn Bridge
2/4/2011 7.5 Continued scanning lantern slides. Scanned some images of Pratt
2/11/2011 7.5 Scanning continues of the lantern slides. Example from this session include historic churches of Brooklyn, which numbered in upper 300s during the late 1800s
2/18/2011 7.5 Continued scanning the lantern images. Also loaded the first batch of images into the DAM. The process involves compiling the metadata created into flat text files through processing the data through MS Access and Excel and imported into the system through a desktop application.
2/25/2011 7.5 Finished scanning the remaining lantern slides, finishing with the 1892 Columbus day celebration.
3/4/2011 3.5 Worked on loading the final batch also attended a digitization workshop at the Brooklyn Historical Society that reviewed the technical aspects of digitizing.
3/11/2011 7 Worked on loading the final batch as well as fixing mutliple data corrections found in previous batches.
3/25/2011 9.5 Attended training on OCLC Connexion. Started research on the lantern slide images scanned.
4/1/2011 7.5 Worked on creating the MARC records in OCLC for the lantern slides. Continued research on the scanned images. This process focuses on finding a brief history about the scene depicted and trying to locate where in Brooklyn it happened.
4/8/2011 7.5 Data cleanup in some of the meatadata created for the lantern slides. Continued creating research documents for the images. Continued revising the MARC records.
4/15/2011 7.5 Located an interesting bit of history on an old house of Brooklyn found along Gravesend Bay owned by the Cortelyou family, was asked to turn my research on the topic into a blog post for the museum. Data cleanup. Continue research on the images.
4/22/2011 7.5 Data cleanup. Continued historical research.
4/29/2011 7.5 Continued historical research. Made some modifcations to the MARC records.
5/6/2011 7.5 Recived a new project to scan photographs from the Alexander M. White house in Brooklyn Heights. Cataloging.
5/13/2011 5 Attended a METRO workshop on copyright.
5/20/2011 7.5 Worked on the OCLC record cataloging as well as data cleanup. Worked on the Alexander M. White photographs.
5/27/2011 9.5 Toured the Brooklyn Historical Society as part of project CHART. Worked on the Alexander M. White photographs.
6/3/2011 7.5 Worked on the Alexander M. White photographs. Started a Brooklyn history research project to create a timeline history of Brooklyn in order to better identify resources to include in project CHART.
6/10/2011 10.5 Toured the Brooklyn Public Library as part of project CHART. Worked on the Brooklyn history research project. Completed the White photographs.
6/17/2011 15 Finished with the bib record fixes. Started Data mapping project to map the museum's CDWA records to Dublin Core. Brooklyn history research project.
6/24/2011 7.5 Started surveying Harper's Weekly and Monthly journals to locate more Brooklyn related images for Project CHART. Worked on the data mapping project.
7/1/2011 7.5 Completed data mapping project. Worked on the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey. Did some corrections on the MARC records.
7/8/2011 7.5 Reviewed the data mapping project. Worked on the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey.
7/15/2011 8.5 Worked on the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey.
7/22/2011 15 Worked on the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey. Participated in the Museum tour for Project CHART.
7/29/2011 23 Went to two day long SAA workshops. One on an overview on digital archives and another on copyright in digital archives. Metadata clean-up. Worked on the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey.
8/5/2011 8.5 Completed the Harper's Weekly and Monthly survey, located over 200 images for future digitization.
