Below are three treemaps built from the MARC records of the Library of Congress, Harvard and Columbia. The treemap is a hierarchy of the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) number found for each MARC record. While LCC can be very specific this visualization groups large ranges together up to four levels deep. Similar idea to a previous visualization but the treemap is easier to visually gauge a range’s area or size. -thisismattmiller.com
